Hello, animal chiropractic friends! Dr. Amy here, president and co-founder at Animal Chiropractic Education Source. As I take my morning dog walk on this hot summer day at the ranch, I’m reminded why August is the ideal time for veterinarians and chiropractors to start their animal chiropractic training.
1. A Full Year for Comprehensive Training
Starting your training in August gives you an entire year to complete your animal chiropractic education. While we offer up to two years for completion, many find that a structured year keeps them focused. This time frame allows you to balance your training with life events like weddings, new babies, or even moving houses without feeling overwhelmed. We’ve had doctors complete the course in as little as four months because they were laser-focused on their goal.
2. Flexibility with Lab Scheduling
When you begin your training in August, you have the flexibility to choose lab sessions that fit your schedule. Lab 1 is offered every month, while Labs 2 and 3 alternate throughout the year. This scheduling allows you to select smaller class sizes if you prefer a more intimate learning environment. Smaller labs, often with only three or four participants, provide personalized attention and a better learning experience.
3. Better Weather and Conditions
Fall and winter in Texas are more pleasant, with milder temperatures and fewer bugs. This makes your hands-on training at the ranch much more enjoyable. Plus, you get to meet our magnificent animals, like Willow, Pink, and Poppy, who help train our doctors to be efficient and effective in animal chiropractic.
4. (bonus reason) Extra Preparation Time for the AVCA (board) Exam
Starting in August allows you to finish your training by December, giving you nine extra months to refine your skills before the AVCA exam in September. This additional practice time ensures that you are fully prepared and confident when you take the exam. We offer refreshers, both in-person and online, to help you hone your skills and maintain your expertise.
Join a Supportive Community
By enrolling in Animal Chiropractic 101 at ACES, you become part of the Mastermind for Animal Chiropractors. This group of skilled graduates meets monthly to share ideas, cases, and challenges, building a supportive community that enhances your learning experience. Being part of this community for a year before your exam can significantly boost your confidence and competence.
